Looking to pack a punch with something fruity? The Texas Hurricane is a must-try this summer if you haven’t had this state-inspired drink before. This is a fun cocktail to put together with friends or neighbors in your luxurious Morada Plano kitchen before heading outside to lounge by the pool. You’ll need:

  • 1 oz dark spice rum
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 oz 151 proof rum

In your cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients except for the crushed ice and 151 proof rum. Shake well and pour into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice. Pour 151 proof rum over the back of a spoon to float the liquor on top, then garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Cheers!

Another Texas-inspired cocktail we can’t get enough of is the Southern Sour. This drink is best enjoyed lounging with friends on our 5th-floor rooftop lounge, overlooking the vibrant Arts District. The best part is how little you need to prepare this whiskey-based beverage at home. See below for ingredients:

  • 1 part Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey
  • 1 part Southern Comfort Peach Liqueur
  • 1 cup Sprite or 7-Up soda

First, fill half of your glass with ice, then add Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort. Top your glass off with your choice of Sprite or 7-Up. For an Instagram-worthy cocktail picture, garnish with a lemon wedge. Be sure to snap a picture of your cocktail while enjoying on our rooftop amenity space and tag @MoradaPlano on Instagram.

Speaking of Instagram-worthy cocktails, next up on our list is the Watermelon Crawl. This bright pink beverage is an ideal pairing to an afternoon laying out in the sun. The ingredient list for this fruity and fresh drink is simple:

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur
  • 2 oz fresh watermelon juice

If you’re feeling up to it, you can first start by pureeing watermelon chunks to get the freshest juice possible. If you’re in a time crunch, watermelon juice can be found at most supermarkets. In your cocktail shaker, combine gin, elderflower liqueur, and watermelon juice. Shake for 15 seconds, then strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a small wedge of the fruit. Enjoy!
